Namibia Fish River Canyon

Fish River Canyon is the second largest canyon in the world. Or so we were told. It sounded reasonable to me. It looked pretty big from where I was sitting. The picture is me at the start of the hiking trail which is 80 kilometers (48 miles) long. It takes 5 days to hike it and costs $11 to go on the trip. Sounds like a bargain. I just did not have the time. I probably did not have the energy, either. I was told that we had to carry almost 50 pounds of water for the 5 days, plus gear. The gear I could manage, but I’m not sure I could manage the 50 pounds of water.
