Park Güell Barcelona

Park Güell BarcelonaPark Güell is one of the premier tourist attractions in Barcelona. It is one of the works of Antoni Gaudí, a famous architect who worked in Barcelona until his death in 1926. Park Güell was created between 1900 and 1914 and was supposed to be a park for a housing project Gaudi was working on. The housing project never made it to fruition, but Park Güell did. Today, it’s an $8 tourist attraction that takes less than an hour to see. While it’s interesting, it may or may not be worth the $8 they charge to see it, depending on whether you are a Guadi fan or not and whether you have a big budget or a small budget. It is a part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is, essentially, the Works of Antonio Gaudi. There are several works that comprise the UNESCO site. Park Güell is one of these works. If you paid the admission to all the works that comprise the site, it might cost upwards of $80. Park Güell is one of the less expensive works to see. I’m not sure you can capture the essence of Gaudi with one site alone. He was a very complex architect. You really need to get brief introduction to his works to decide whether you want to keep exploring his works. While I like architecture and I can appreciate Gaudi, I’m not a huge fan.
