Air Asia – Bangkok

Air Asia - Bangkok

Air Asia – Bangkok

This was the plane that took me from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur. It was nice enough. When Air Asia says no frills, they mean no frills. I think they have pay toilets. I was afraid to find out, wondering if there was a "cruising fee" if I got up and walked around. Do I like Air Asia? You bet I do. I’d rank them higher than any airline in America just because the service staff is respectful. Not to mention the cost per mile to travel on their airlines. I’ll gladly pay a dollar for a coke and $5 for a meal to save $100 on an airline ticket.

Sushi Bar – Bangkok Airport

Sushi Bar – Bangkok Airport

This is a sushi bar at the airport in Bangkok airport. It was a rally nice one. The place struck me as a really good place to get soused, eat some sushi and wait on a plane. If I were a Japanese businessman who was stressed and a little hungry, I’d see this as a golden opportunity.

Lunch – Bangkok Airport

Lunch – Bangkok Airport

This was the $5 special lunch at the Bangkok Airport. It was the cheapest thing I could find. It was also the healthiest. Interesting how that turned out. I liked Bangkok. I didn’t like the $10-15 lunches at the airport when I was used to eating the simply yummy $1-2 ones in town.

Rooftop Skyline – Bangkok

Rooftop Skyline – Bangkok

There are a whole lot of skyscrapers in Bangkok Thailand. Somewhere on the internet there is a website devoted to skyscrapers that lists the number of large buildings in the major cities of the world. I’ve seen it, I’ve been there and cruised the site and I know I could find it again. Somehow, after this trip I think I’m going to pay it another visit.

Wat Arun

Wat Arun

Wat Arun

It’s a really nice wat on the west side of the river in Bangkok. I would have liked to have climbed up the thing, but I wasn’t sure what the point would be. It’s a long way up there, too. This has to be one of the best things I saw in Bangkok.

Bangkok Train Station

Bangkok Train Station

It’s the Bangkok train station. I could have saved a lot of money if I had taken a train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. Well, maybe not a lot, but some. Anyway, maybe I should have done it just for the experience. Sometimes, train trips can be interesting.

Reclining Buddha

Wat Pho is the oldest and largest Buddhist temple in Bangkok. Within the wat is the Reclining Buddha, an enormous gold-plated Buddha in a reclining position. The Reclining Buddha is approximately 150 feet long and 50 feet high at its’ highest point. That’s a pretty big Buddha.

Fuller Brush Man

Fuller Brush Man

I saw these guys riding around all over Bangkok. They were selling brushes and brooms and other assorted types of devices that fulfill the types of functions that would be similar to the things which were sold by the Fuller Brush Man in the U.S.
