It’s me. I’m in a McDonald’s in Beijing. I’ve got my Mandarin phrasebook in hand, trying to order breakfast. It’s something of a challenge. It seems that the percentage of Chinese who speak even a smidgeon of English is virtually miniscule. Lucky for me I’ve go the phrasebook, right? That’s really funny. But, somehow I manage. At least I don’t seem to be loosing any weight. At least not so far.

Yes, it is some kind of a leaf with a plastic spoon sticking out of it. What was inside was rice with seasoning on top. It was pretty tasty. Breakfast Bar
It was the breakfast bar at the hostel where I stayed in Bangkok. It was terrible.
Me at Breakfast – HCMC
Yes, that’s me. Yes, that’s my brekfast. Yes, it consisted of a banana, a hard roll and an egg that was scrambled. Yes that’s all they offered me. I mean, the breakfast was free and the bed only cost me $7 for a night. I couldn’t expect too much, could I? Oh yeah, I got free coffee, too.

Breakfast – Copan, Honduras
These yummy burrito-looking objects are called something else, but I can’t recall the name at the moment because I have the memory of a two-year-old. I just know that I really liked them and at them all the time for breakfast. Actually, I ate beans and tortillas all the time for almost six weeks. I was in Central America. Everyone in Central America eats beans and tortillas ll the time.

Danhostel – Copenhagen Digs
Is this a big hostel or what? Over 1000 beds. Very clean, very modern, Very busy. I stayed there and it cost $40 a night for a bed in a dorm room with 7 other guys. Breakfast was $10, lunch was $15 and supper was $20. Beer was $6. I ate down the street and drank out in front of a 7-11.

Cairo Breakfast
This is your basic Egyptian breakfast – bread, cucumbers, tomatoes, beans and falafel. Falafel is made from spiced fava beans, possibly combined with chickpeas and served as a fried ball. Or a 1001 other ways. You can’t eat too much bread, beans or falafel in Egypt. Unless you’re really poor and can’t afford it.
