If I’m not mistaken, this is simply the biggest box of corn flakes that I have ever seen. Well, at least that was my first impression. What I came to find out is that this size box of cereal is quite common in Africa. Was the cereal good? It was great. That’s because I didn’t have a fast food joint on every corner or every other corner as I drove down the street. In Karen, Kenya your fast food options are nonexistent. Some people might think that’s a good thing. They, obviously, haven’t been to Karen, Kenya. My official position on fast food is that it’s better to have it available and not use it or use it reasonably than to not have it at all. In basic free market economics, restaurants close when no one frequents them and flourish when they do a thriving business. I like that concept. Do I have to eat there? No one is holding a gun to my head, are they? 20120601

Good Friends Kenya
This is a baby giraffe. We went to the Giraffe Park in Nairobi and got to feed a lot of giraffes. They can get pretty big and they slobber a lot. You need to wash your hands a lot when you feed giraffes by hand. Hand sanitizer is a nice touch as well. This little guy and I hit it off quite well. Actually, he seemed to hit it off with anyone that had some food in their hands. Maybe it wasn’t as special a relationship as I imagined it was. 20120601
Loading Up Kenya
We’re heading them up and moving them out in Kenya. This is my new home and my new temporary family for the next two months. It’s the first day and they are getting ready to roll. Notice the truck. Notice the nice windows they roll up. You can shake hands with the locals when the truck stops in the towns and cities. Most people who are on the trucks just wave to all the kids who wave to them on the way. I’ve heard that the children love the big yellow truck and wave to it all the time. 20120603
