Warsaw – Old Town Square
They had a really great Old Town in Warsaw. People don’t really talk it up, though. At least, not in English.
Warsaw – Tall Statue
This is in front of the Palace at the Old Town. Hard to miss.
Warsaw – Tomb of Unknown Soldier
They have a really nice memorial and I think the guards are on duty all day and all night. Can you imagine standing at attention for 8 hours at a time? I hurt just thinking about it.
Warsaw – View From Culture Palace
The Culture Palace in Warsaw has an observation deck on the 30th floor that goes all the way around thye building. One thing I noticed was a lot of smog. Or haze. Or CO2. Or something.
Warsaw – Culture Palace
I fell In Love with the Culture Palace in Warsaw. I must be part communist. Then again, maybe I just like really big, cool buildings.
Warsaw – Hard Rock
That’s right, the did have Hard Rock Cafes behind the Iron Curtain. Think Old Commies don’t know how to rock? Guess again.
Warsaw – Ikea
They had really nice stuff inside the stores. At least the ones I knew were servo buy bread?ing the upscale market. What happened to all those stories about waiting in line to buy bread?
Warsaw – Huge McDonald’s
Talk about a big McDonald’s, this one was huge. The outside alone must have had twenty, maybe thirty covered tables.
Warsaw, Poland – GenderLess
There was a lot genderless facilities on my European trip around the Baltic Sea. This left me in something of a quandry. I wasn’t sure what was OK and what was not. Most of the time it was pretty simple and I don’t remember being in a restroom with someone of the opposite gender. This one was a little different. Located at the hostel in Warsaw, it had showers as well as toilets. Needless to say, I found some gender specific facilities where I had a better idea of how things were supposed to work. However, I probably need to state that gender isn’t as sensitive an issue with regards to restrooms in Europe as it is in the U.S.
