The Big Squeeze Malta

The Big Squeeze MaltaI hate to admit it but it bothers me. People in Spain, Italy, Greece, and all the other countries that border the Mediterranean Sea simply do not queue. I’m not sure why it bothers me so much but it just does. I think it’s because I hate to have to knock some 80-year-old grandmother off of the bus steps so I can get on… Just kidding about the grandmother. But I’m not kidding about the queuing. They really don’t queue well. The children are the worst. Thank God they’re short.

Sometimes I say something out loud to everyone who is close to me. It usually has no effect on anyone. Most of the people have no idea what I’m saying. It seems the people who queue the least are the people who are also the least likely to understand English. They are also the least likely to care what anyone thinks about it. But I do it anyway just to make myself feel better.

I think the only people who are worse than Mediterranean Europeans about cutting in line in front of me are the Chinese and some of the Asian countries that have major income disparities, i.e., they’re really poor. I can forgive them to some degree because I have to assume that it originated centuries ago and was just a survival mechanism for the general population. I just think that there’s no reason for people in First World countries to be so disrespectful about the rights of others who had the forethought to get there first. Grrrrrrrrr…
