NY Rest Stop

This is a view of an area at a New York stop. It’s pretty scenic. Sometimes I think about stopping at some of the rest stops scattered throughout America and going for a hike. Actually, I have done it a few times, just not very long hikes. There are some very nice rest stops in this great land of ours.

Welcome to Ohio – Trucking

It’s a sign along I-70. Seeing this sign probably means I’m headed away from home. Significance? Eventually, I would head away from home too often for too long. I loved being a trucker. It was fun and, in my humble opinion, the absolute best way to see America. But, eventually, being on the road for hundreds of days a year takes its’ toll. I’d never advise anyone with a young family to go over-the-road. You’re gone from home too much. I could write a book on what it’s like to be an over-the-road trucker. Maybe I will. However, in my case, there came a day when I had to give it up.

There are, scattered across America, a lot of crosses. This is one of the larger ones, located along I-70 in Illinois. I just think it’s a statement worthy of a picture. In this case the picture really is worth a thousand words.

Arch and Mississippi

It’s one of America’s greatest landmarks, the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. This is a picture taken from the truck as I drove by it heading east. Usually, I drive by it heading west. This is because I’m normally heading home when I pass it. It’s part of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial and is administered by the National Park Service. I’ve been up in the arch. There is a really cramped "elevator" ride up the incline of the arch to the top. The views are very good from the top. The symbolism behind the structure is even better, being one of the great stories of the United States.

Car In Median

This is an overturned car in the median. I see a lot of those while I’m driving. How does someone get their car into a predicament like this? It’s called bad decision making.

How did they get that truck in the sky? Notice the sign. No Cash needed. Low payments. E-Z Credit. It’s the American way.
