Colonial Williamsburg

is the historic district of Williamsburg, Virginia. Much of the area consists of buildings that date from 1699 to 1780. This was the period when Williamsburg was colonial Virginia’s capital. For most of this period Williamsburg was not only the center of government, it was the center of education and culture in Virginia. It was in Williamsburg of this perido that Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, James Monroe, James Madison and other legends of the period helped to shape the future of America.
