Know who’s in the picture over my left shoulder? That’s ‘ole Chairman Mao, who was the leader of China from 1949 until his death in 1976. The old commie was a controversial figure, to say the least. On one hand he was considered the Father of Modern China, the man who was able to bring his people forward from a backward third world country to a dynamic world power. On the other hand, he is accused of masterminding inept policies that caused the deaths of somewhere between 40 and 75 million people.
