I just thought it was a good picture. Normally, the elephants are in an area where there is more vegetation. This would imply more water. I rarely saw elephants in an area that looked like it would be a place where water would be scarce. This area struck me as just such a place. One thing you learn about watching wild animals in Africa is that the word water is the key term to learn. It drives virtually all animal activity. Without it the animals are in serious trouble.

This is the best shot I got of the African Acacia tree. I’ve seen some really classical pictures of them. If I were a real photographer and had some time in Africa I could have gotten a classic shot also. But I’m not. The Acacia trees were everywhere. I was told there are 63 varieties of them. I believe it. The cool thing is that they are everywhere I have been so far. That’s nice. I could have taken thousand of pictures of them. Come to think of it, there are probably thousands of pictures of Acacia trees in Africa, if not millions.

This was another one of the things we were looking for – a lion in a tee. I did not get as good a shot of this one as I would have liked. If you can’t see the lion, you’ll just have to take my word that it is there. Remember… some of the group must have taken 100 shots of this lion. Click. Click. Click. Click. I’m sure they got some really great shots. I have witnesses and proof that I saw a lion in a tree..
