I was out riding my rented scooter when I aw a lot of young people riding bicycles and carrying a parasol. Dozens, in fact. It perked my curiosity. I followed them and it turned out they were going back to the high school. I’m not really sure why the need for so many umbrellas, but they had them, nonetheless. Shades of Mary Poppins.

Blue Lagoon
They called it the Blue Lagoon for obvious reasons. It was a swimming hole a few kilometers outside of Vang Vieng. I took my rented motorcycle out there, over some really, really bad roads. The scenery around it was great. The said that one of the cliffs beside the Blue Lagoon offered some great views of Vang Vieng from the top of the cliffs. I didn’t make it up to the top. I didn’t even start up towards the top.

Can you believe they charged me $1.25 to go across this bridge and come back?
Cows In The Road Vang Vieng
I had rented a scooter. The scooter needed fuel, so I went to the gas station and filled it up. On my way back to hotel I went around a curve at a fairly good clip and came upon a herd of cows who were crossing the road. I immediately stopped. I don’t think they were intimidated by me or the scooter.
