Wandering About Australia

Australia - U.S. Size

Australia – U.S. Size

Decisions, decisions, decisions. What to do in Australia?

It’s a big country. A very big country. Too big, in fact , to see in a short period of time. So, what to do? Simple. Cut back on expectations. Ayers Rock is out. That hurt. But it’s a 3,500 mile round-trip from Sydney and an expensive one at that. Ayers Rock would be an option if I were staying for a month. But I’m not. I don’t have that kind of time if I want to see Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, some countryside and the Great Barrier Reef. Hopefully, I’ll be back.

Best scenario right now looks at staying in Sydney for a few days and then heading down to Canberra and Melbourne via a rental car rented with Jucy. The rates are good and it looks like I can do a one-way rental without any drop-off fee. From Melbourne I fly to Cairns for the Great Barrier Reef and some local rain forest / Mother Nature activity in Cairns. From there I go to Bali.
