Europe 2005 Kosovo Apartments

From Sophia, Bulgaria I took a bus to Skopje, the capital of Macedonia. Skopje wasn’t really a tourist mecca and the most memorable thing that happened to me in the city was that I was driven around the city by a cab driver for half an hour before he dropped me at my hotel, which was two blocks from the bus station. The cab ride cost me $10 and the cabbie actually asked for a tip. Lesson learned. I took a day trip from Skopje to Pristina, Kosovo. When I crossed the border between Macedonia and Kosovo I was asked the purpose of my visit and I replied "Tourist." and the border guard looked at me sardonically and asked "Why?", which may well have been the first time I ever had that experience at a border. These are some of the dwellings in the city of Pristina. 11/2005
