Library Card Olbia Sardinia

Library Card Olbia SardiniaIt was one of the best moments of the trip. I had checked out of the B&B. I was waiting for the boat to Genoa to start loading. I had a few hours. I went into a biblioteca (library) hoping I could just get to use a desk and a chair for a while to do a little work on my blog. I hadn’t had much luck getting into libraries in Spain and Italy. They seemed to be really restrictive as to who could use them. Luckily, I happened to find a patron who helped me get a library card at the Olbia library. She was another customer who just happened to speak English and Italian and was standing next to me when I asked to use a desk. She helped me get the card. She told me that as far as anyone knew I was the first foreigner to get a library card at the Olbia library. I asked her if they planned to take my picture, make a plaque, and hang it on the wall. When she translated it to the librarian and gave me her response she said “Don’t press your luck.” I’m taking that card, framing it, and hanging it on my wall.
