You would think a guy with several college degrees could light a stove. But I couldn’t. The picture you’re seeing is the empty coffee cup and the stove. I rented an apartment in Trapani, Italy because there was no hostel and the apartment for one night was cheaper than most hotel rooms I could find. Sure, it’s not much of an apartment, but it’s clean and it’s convenient to the Old Town and there’s a panificio across the street and a supermarket a block away. I like it. But I can’t light the stove to make tea. I have this problem with lots of devices in Europe. They’re different than they are in the U.S. It frustrates me. Actually, I’m just not very mechanical. I never have been. I was an embarrassment to older males in my family. They never took me with them to the coffee shops to talk miter saws, pipe joints, SAE tools, and other blue collar stuff. Oh, well. I guess I’ll just have to find a Starbucks in Trapani. Then again, given the odds on having a Starbucks in Trapani, maybe just a local coffee shop.
