Rolling Again

Visitor Center Amarillo, TXIt’s a new day and I’m off. I’m taking off for Albuquerque to pick up John for our camping trip to Carlsbad Caverns. I take off early for OKC for a $22 oil change with Pep Boys. It’s the first time I can remember being in rush hour traffic in the morning for the last couple of years. That’s a good insight for me. It means I’m not a slave to a time clock. I fill up my 2001 Kia Rio and drive to Amarillo, TX where I fill up and find I got 36 MPG from OKC to Amarillo. That’s a good sign for my summer trip to the west coast of the U.S. I stop in Amarillo because I’ve never really visited the city before. This is a picture of my at the Visitor Center in downtown Amarillo. I got lucky and got to meet Jutta Matalka, the Director of Tourism & Amarillo Film Commissioner who gave me some insights into Amarillo. One thing she told that I found interesting is that the largest museum in Texas is located within 20 miles of Amarillo in Canyon, TX. Unfortunately, it was closed on Monday.
