Wednesday Street Market Las Cruces NM

Wednesday Street Market Las Cruces NMElectrical Posts Las Cruces NMI’m driving to the Library in downtown Las Cruces to do a little research on the local area. There appears to be something going on. One of the streets was blocked off for a couple of blocks and it looked like there were vendors selling goods. I turned the corner, got out and decided to take a look. I got into a conversation with one of the vendors who told me that every Wednesday and Saturday there was a street vendor market in Las Cruces. I made the Wednesday version of the street market. He told me the Saturday version would have almost 300 vendors. What was really neat about it was that it appeared the city of Las Cruces had an active hand in the market. If you look closely at the iron posts in the picture on the right you’ll see that there is an electrical box on the posts lining the street. These electrical boxes are for vendors to plug into. I was impressed that the city would build that kind of functionality into the downtown utility system. This meant that they had a ready-to-go location for fairs and markets.
