I call it a marriage carriage because it was a elaborate litter, or wedding sedan chair as some people call it, that was designed to get the bride to the altar on time and in style. This litter was especially designed for a bride as there are 100 children carved on the outside of the chair. I’m sure this was to be a form of symbolism meant to wish that the couple would have many, many children. As far as the Chinese go, it seems to have worked. So well in fact that today, the Chinese really do have a one child policy.
