My Message for America – 2014

American FlagGod blesses America, Notice this is in the present tense. It’s not in the past tense. It’s not in the future tense. It’s now and it always has been now because God has always blessed America and that’s because of what America stand for – hope. America stands for the Continue reading

Road Bike Fit

Planet X Road BikeI’m home today. I’m working on my airfare blog. I’d like to get good at it. But, I also need a little relaxation. Exercise, too. So, I’m supposed to be picking up my new Planet X Road Bike next week when it’s finished. My thoughts? Fit, mostly. See the following YouTube videos: How to do a basic bike fitProper Road Bike FitBicycle Fit – “What Size Bicycle do I need?”How to Fit a Road Bike; and Road Bike Fitting at Schlegel Bicycles. How many videos does YouTube have for people to watch that are about fitting a road bike? I’d say a few hundred at minimum. Maybe more. How many do I need to watch? I’m not sure, but I’m sure I will be watching some more. Maybe I’ll add them to the list.

Moore OK Tragedy

Moore Storm Track - National Weather Service/Dave Eichorn

National Weather Service/Dave Eichorn

I woke up this morning and I couldn’t believe what I saw in the media. Moore, Oklahoma had once again been struck by a horrific force of nature. I remember the 1999 tornado in Moore. I missed a major impact point by about 15 minutes. I left a client’s location about 25 minutes before it came within a half-mile of his property. I drove through Moore 15 minutes before it tore a path of destruction across Interstate 35. But that tornado didn’t leave the death toll that yesterday’s tornado left. You can rebuild a home. It takes time and perseverance. Continue reading

Bountiful America

Hibachi - OKCI loves this country. There’s no where else like it in the world. At least that I’ve come across. Sure, I’ve been to countries with a higher per-capita income and better health care. I’ve been to countries that are more sophisticated than we are. I’ve been to countries that look down on us a country full of gun-toting, redneck cowboys. But the truth is that there’s no other country like America and I’m proud I’m a part of it. Continue reading

Tom Widney Last Request

Tom Widney Last Request

Tom had a last request for me.

He was a good friend for a long time. We were great friends in high school and roommates in college. He may have had his first sexual experience in the back of my 1956 Buick Roadmaster. Not with me, of course. We’d even been arrested together. I was sad to see him go. Continue reading

John Sailing

It’s my friend John and we’re sailing at Lake Hefner in Oklahoma City. John has a boat here and he likes to sail. At one time I think he had four boats at two different lakes. He likes to sail a lot. 20120304

Yes, I do go sailing periodically. I’m not very good at it, but it’s not something I try to do on a regular basis. Just every once-in-awhile. 20120304

Yes, grandchildren can be fun. I’m not sure what he wished for, but whatever it is, it will probably come true. I mean he’s only ten years old. He’s probably not wishing for a new car. Right? 20120324

What do you get when you have a birthday and your parents spring for a big toy for a day? You get a lot of friends that come over and want to play on the big toy. 20120324

Hot Hamburger

It’s called a Hot Hamburger and it’s served at Murphy’s Steak House in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. I think I started nibbling on my first one about 60 years ago when my aunt took me there. On this occasion I swung by my aunt’s house and picked here up and took her to Murphy’s where we got Murphy’s famous Hot Hamburger. 20120330
