Closed Lavanaderia Palermo

Closed Lavanaderia PalermoIf there is one thing I do not enjoy doing while I am on the road it’s laundry. There’s no fun to it. If I had a convenient self-serve laundry that is open a goodly amount of time and was near enough to where I was staying I wouldn’t say much. But, the problem with laundries are that they vary from country to country and from culture to culture. Here in Europe I have not seen a self-serve laundry in the last six weeks. Even the laundry in the picture is not self serve. I have to drop off the clothes and then come back and pick them up. How long it would take is anyone’s guess. I looked at the price list. It could have cost me upwards of $15-30 to have my laundry done there. Plus, I doubt that they actually do it there. Even in the states, most laundries that are not self-serve are just drop-off points for a facility that is located elsewhere. I took this picture to remind me to write a blog entry about laundry. But, I could write a lot more than a blog entry. I could write a couple of pages, Easy. That’s because the issue of laundry is location specific in terms of how it gets done. Let me just say that it can be a problem. So far during this trip I’ve primarily done my laundry while I was taking a shower. It worked out just fine because the weather cooperated. At the last hostel I stayed at I was able to do a load of laundry and put it out on the line to dry. At the moment of this writing almost all of my clothes in my pack are clean. I can’t say that most of the time. Laundry really is an issue on the road.
